Calling all Dads of Great Students TOMORROW NIGHT, Thursday, November 29, 2018!!
It is time……..
I could not be more excited to announce that not one but TWO awesome LRES dads have stepped forward to lead as our LRES Watch DOGS program.
Please do not miss the opportunity to take part of this terrific program.
Any dad that would like to take part in the 2018-19 program, must join us at a mandatory training session on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 7pm in the front office (Currently in the library).
We are anticipating the meeting going no longer than an hour with approximately 30 minutes budgeted in to answer questions.
Dads please note that Watch DOGS training is required before you are permitted to sign up….even if you have done this before.
What are Watch DOGS you ask??
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement, organizations in the country. Since the program’s creation in 1998, more than 6,450 schools across the country have launched a WATCH D.O.G.S. program of their own. Each school year hundreds of thousands of fathers and father-figures make a positive impact on millions of children by volunteering millions of hours in their local schools through this amazing one-of-a-kind program.
What is WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students)?
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative.
What do WatchDOGS do (while they are at school)?
During the day, WatchDOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.
On the day of their participation, WatchDOG dads are given a brief review of their involvement and they wear an official WATCH D.O.G.S. vest with a disposable ‘Dog Tag’ identifying them as a WatchDOG.
Will men really spend a full day at school?
Yes! WATCH D.O.G.S. has a great track record of bringing fathers and father figures to school for the whole day. If you run your program as we outline for you, men will show up. While volunteering a day is a sacrifice for these fathers and father figures, once they serve their day they will be glad that they did. In fact, in many cases these fathers and father figures will sign up for more days, both because they had an incredible experience and because it gives them a greater appreciation for what the teachers are doing to educate their child.
So don’t miss out! Not sure? Come by and check it out….you’ll be glad you did!
Thank you again to Mr. Choksey and Mr. Sheehan for your leadership as our Top DOGS!
If you would like to contact either dad or have questions please feel free to email LRESWatchDOGS(at)gmail(dot)com
I look forward to seeing you all there.
(PS – Moms and Students, this night is going to be for dads only, please. We need their full attention and appreciate your support.)
