Book Fair
The Book Fair is a week long event that brings the books kids love to read to our school in an atmosphere of fun! Students can choose from their favorite titles and parents can be assured that they are getting great books at great prices. Plus, LRES PTA earns Scholastic Dollars for every purchase made. Scholastic Dollars are then used to purchase more books and supplies for LRES, including Scholastic Reading Counts. The book fair is held in the front lobby of the public library. Don’t miss this opportunity to build your child’s library and raise funds for LRES. Be sure to check out our fun family activities during Book Fair week. The Book Fair will be open during Donuts with Dads in December.
Read-a-Thon and Literacy Week
Each year the PTA holds a read-a-thon and the students log their daily minutes on a reading log which is handed in. The top class from each grade will enjoy a treat! Our school wide goal is 275,000 minutes (that is just recording 20 minutes per day per student for two weeks). Any reading counts, even the back of the cereal box! If LRES reaches its goal, the entire school will enjoy a party!
During Literacy Week, we have several fun events and programs that support reading:
- Bookmark Contest
- Bookmark Sales
- Author’s Day
- Charity Drive
- Read Across America Day/ Pajama Day
